Rear - This has also been a challenge but strangely a bit easier that the front!

Now with all these fender being brought out so far there is obviously a massive gap........next picture will show you what we are planning to do in those gaps......little slats that will direct airflow to where we want it to go.

Inside the rear fender the air will get guided by more slats towards the radiator that will sit in the boot, will go into that more in detail when we get there.

Example:

Slow progress on the car but we are getting there slowly.

We have officially pulled our first fender from the mould and it came out amazing! Smooth surface, no ugly marks and no need for any filler anywhere! Just need to do mounting and spacing. We will do this when the car is on its wheels again to ensure we have perfect spacing.

Image

Rear bumber mock-up with fender. Now we need to make the whole arche smaller for the smaller wheels. This can also only be done when we re-install the rear suspension.

Dash board received its first coat of fibre glass, one more coat then it will get pulled of. Then we will sit with a fibreglass dash board..... :domo:

Just to let you all know where we are at:

1. Head we got back, general recondition and 3 angle valve job.
2. Block is being done as we speak, installation of the Darton sleeves
3. Rear suspention is being modified at the moment to be fully adjustable and all solid bushes, will upload pics when done.
4. We are also busy with the roof scoop at the moment.......one massive roof scoop! Pics will get loaded when done.

Little update time again.....

Dashboard is halfway there, pulled the fb copy and put it in place to see of it fits properly. Fits like a glove.

Surface now needs to be smoothed out primer and cleaned. Will be carbon wrapped when done. New fb dash is allot lighter than original! Another few kg's scored! :domo:

Next part we are busy with is the roof scoop.

The GTiR has a sunroof, so we wont be closing that up. Seeing that we will be mounting the radiator in the boot this will be used to feed air to the radiator. We are still busy with the final design but this gives you a bit of a idea of what we are doing.

Took a bit of work to make this scoop from scratch! But should look awesome when done.

Please excuse the mess in the garage! Seems like you cleaning more than building! Operation clean-up will happen tonight!

Supports and tidying up of the fenders, going to look mental when its done. Hats of to my dad with his mad design skills with FB! Still some work to be done untill its completely finished.

All I can say is, I am officially sick and tired of fibre glass! Always itching and alsways a mess! :x

Front fender:
Have a look between the fender and the door where we have placed the foam and shaped it, also put a thin layer of FB matting over it, you will not believe how strong it is now! And still lighter than your stock fender......

Image

Rear Fender:
Here we are starting to round the edge of the fender to give it strenght and also so it looks a bit better.

Why did you not cut the metal fenders before fiting the rear wide panels?

Because we are not going to cut the the rear metal fender. Its will stay as it is. We only cut the arch.

Rear metal fender is core part of the cars structual strenght, you dont want to be cutting that into pieces.

Carbon Bonnet arrived......man this thing looks nice!

And its super light! Havnt checked the weight yet. Will try and do it tonight. But its allot lighter! The finish of the clear coat isnt to good. You can see where the mould had one or two in perfection and a dust spot hear and there in the clear. But we will flat and buff it a bit and then it should be 100%

Car will be going on its wheels tonight. Will take some pics of the rear suspension.....man it looks hot!
