I will most probably pop by Swarties on Sunday..
We collected the car from Alistair and his family around 12.30 and hit the road at 1pm..Through the tunnel and into the pass the car started having temp problems.
No place to to stop nor any water anywhere so we pushed on a bit trying desperately to keep the temps sane. Downhill I kept the revs at 2000 and clutch in hoping the speed will drop temps.
This worked for a while but then our luck ran out. It shot through the roof. I kept the engine running but pulled over at Touws River with the garage in sight. We managed to coast into the garage and stopped.
The problem was quickly diagnosed as we found the very inadequate wiring for the fans had burnt out.
Luckily Neptune had given me a box with all sorts of spares and we found some wiring in it. My mate Koert hotwired the fans but we then found the rad. cap was blowing by. Can you believe the little garage at Touws actually had a cap in the shop so we bought one and it was fitted.
Problem solved.
As you can see , the engine had got hot. Steam from the rad cap that was not sealing.
After this I bought like ten 5l plastic bottles and filled them with water and stuck it all in the boot.
Luckily we did not need these as the car then ran flawlessly all the way home. We did hot wire the fan to work all the time though.
Here we had stopped at Beaufort for some fuel and a pee.
Here we arrived at Colesburg at ten Sat. night, had some crappy food at Wimpy and headed for the overnight stop and sleep spot. The next morning was fantastic and we checked everything on the car. She had used a pint of oil so we topped up. At this point I was really concerned about the gearbox as it was by now really whining and rattly.
Alistair had said something about the box that I cannot mention here but let me just say this car will only be worked on by myself in the future..
The box is rather fubarred but I already have a replacement standing ready to go in. And perhaps a Z32 diff as well.
I am going to drive her as is for now and enjoy her for a while.
Further updates to follow..Oh, and my OZ Magnesios fit perfectly !!

Yup, losing the ZX wheels soon.
So I popped in to Domingo`s Mag and Tyre today to have a look at some wheels. Good old Tony, still the same ! Nice set of Work wheels but he wants R22K for them. Ouch. I would rather go for the Volk TE37`s from the oukie in Cape Town..R30K but a far nicer AND more delectable wheel.
Oh, and if anybody is interested I had ordered a set of Compomotive Mo 1780 in December. These are 5x 98 pcd for Alfa Romeo though. They should be landing very soon. They cast them for me specially ! 8x 17". ET 20 though.
My project car came crashing to earth which gave birth to the s14 idea, today Im a Nissan owner. The Italian Gods are going to disown me....
