Ford Anglia

Post by mario_200sx »

So its not a SX but I want to share it with you all.

Abount 6 months ago I bought this Ford Anglia for my girlfriend as this is the only car she wants!

So later tonight I will be picking up a 1600 kent motor with a 1200 Anglia Super gearbox.

Motor swap will get done tonight and tomorrow. Im really excited as this will be my first motor swap by myself and it cant get easier than this!

Currently its still running the original 1000cc motor and gearbox, however its in a very bad condition!

End of the month we will be fitting some Mini Lite 13" wheels! Its gonna look great!

Futher plans is disc brakes infront, full suspention make over. Probably loads of parts from Milton in the UK.

Then a full respray will be happening and the interior will get redone!

OK! So I picked up the new motor and gearbox today with a few extra parts.

Motor is a 1600 GT Capri motor and the gearbox is a 1200 Anglia Super box (one with syncro).

36 Weber carb with stock inlet and exhaust manifold.

Some pics:

Will start tomorrow:

* Clean-up of the new engine
* Spray of new engine and gearbox
* removing the old motor
*Transfer all necesary parts to new motor

Will then see what time it is, otherwise the rest will happen on Thursday night.

Update:

The old motor and gearbox is out. Drive shaft is out! Took is a solid 5 hours to do it all!

Pathetic yes I know! But I was a bit stupid with a few things and we where struggling allot with old bolts!

So here is the old - South African version of a crate motor!

And just a few pics of the process:

Well to morrow will be clean-up and new lick of paint on the motor> I need to swop the sump and pick-up also. Then build all the extra parts over to the new motor.

Hope fully no hickups this time!

Hey guys,

So the motor is in and is turning over! I have not started it up yet.

1. Still needs a exhaust
2. Drive shaft must get made shorter
3. Timing must get done

So all an all I am very happy, I really took my time to ensure all was done 100% and I think it will show in the pictures.

Let me know what you guys think.....

PS. My girlfriend calls the car "Smurfness". :P

Re: Ford Anglia

Post by mario_200sx »

Update:

Took the Anglia for her maiden voyage! Turns out the gearbox is a bit stuffed, will get that fixed next week.

Throttle cable I need to adjust a bit, cause its only opening the first butterfly, not the second on full throttle. But is suprisingly nippy with only one butterfly at full tilt!

Needs a new diff ratio now and then also need to pick up my MK2 Cortina struts with discs and calipers to install that.

These I purchased today.........Will be puttin them on tonight! Love them! Super nice! 13" X 7J (-8 offset for a perfect fit!)
