SR20VE vs Audi S3 (2009) -3rd \4th Gear Highway Run

With the road works on the highway they tend to close the highway down from 4 lanes to 3 lanes then open it up again.
Yesterday on the way home, I was playing a little with a S3 when we hit traffic because of the lane closers and he ducked in behind me now I could see both of us knew where it would open up again getting to the opening . I geared back to 3rd at about 90Km\h and waited for the right lane to open as soon as it did we both punched it.
3rd Gear – S3 was a little slow to react so I opened about a 2 car gap, Stayed that way through 3rd
4th Gear - More of the same he just couldn’t close the gap and I couldn’t open on him
I stopped on account of the traffic and gave him hazards got no response.
