check out details on the CA16de. the intake cam will give you extra duration, and extra lift. and it fits in there. unless thats what you meant.

the exhaust cam is difficult to mod or change because the CAS runs off of it. although i heard a funny story about yours!!!

oh and i remember that i cant benchpress 250kg's, or 90kg one arm dumbbell rows, 0r 230kg shrugs, or any of that stuff, but i can always ask the chemical brothers to help me get masseev!!!

The CA16 would give better. Good luck finding one in SA, I dont think we got the CA16 here. I think thats why Phinx didnt even mention it.

The Ca18De sold here was the non-Emissions model.

It has the same Duration and lift as the Ca16DE.
But I cant find a CA18De cam, Phoned every Nissan scrapyard in PTA and they say the 1.8 16V are damn rare...

The Exhaust cam fits on the intake side with no modifications.
But for the hell of it I'm having cam gears made next month

VD Linde has CA18 grinds and there are billets floating around.
My bud picked up 40HP at 1.5bar by fitting 264's so dont think cams dont work on turbo cars.

Just because the Ecu does not log fault does not mean the sensors are ok. It will log faults if there open circuits but as long as it gets some kind of reading it will happily assume the sensors are fine. In my experience anyway.
Duane,This I can confirm now. I tested all sensors according to FSM( Well 90% of them) and my last resort was the CAS en power transistor. Eventually the CAS the reason for my 2500 rpm nose dive what ever problem. Could this CAS problem be picked up via the ECU codes on the "while driving mode?".

I Have spoken with VD linda. They don't have billet units and don't plan on getting.

I'm really not a fan of regrinding but in order to make the regrinds work with increased lift the valve stem has to be lengthened. Really not a fan on that Idea. Because I like my 7300 Rpm redline. (well thats where my limiter kicks in) . Don't get me wrong I know VD linda does good work and they are pretty cheap

But I'm still in the market for billets if you know of anyone selling. Or a Ca18De cam
I'm also agree cam's on a turbo set-up can gain HP.

how much you willing to spend, cos there are company's out there that sell cams for our motors.

but big brands like tomei and hks only come to mind.

and if you gonna import, why not get one from a ca16, apparently its a big gain?

The Ca16de cam is not really a big gain.

I would like the big name cams but really cant afford that type of money

Ok guys, I have got my hands on new Info about cams for our baby's.

The Stock CA18DET inlet-Cam
Duration: 240
Lift : 7.8mm lift

The CA16DE inlet-cam Info
Duration: 248
Lift : 8.5mm lift

Note: Now we all know the CA16DE never came to south Africa our loss? NO we got the JDM (Non emissions controlled) CA18DE

The JDM CA18DE inlet-cam Info
Duration: 252
Lift : 8.5mm lift

I have sourced one of these cams I can confirm the clams, the cam does have more lift and more duration the extra duration can be seen when comparing these cams side by side.

I have installed the cam and it has given my car a lopey idle , Its put a lump of power at around 4000 RPM to around 5500 RPM and helped with the throttle response on the engine.

But don't expect a great increase in power the car feels a little bit stronger but nothing earth shattering but for R 750 its not bad. You can have cams reprofiled for around R 1000 but then you have to get your valve extended to increase lift.

I have search high and low for billet cams for the CA18DET, I am unable to find anyone that have but expect to pay around R 2000 just for billet with no profile...

p.s i know where to get a ca18 cam should anyone want one

Hey deserat, you should also put an article on your rebuild. Talking to you at the event, you seemed to have some pretty good idea's.

OK long time no update.

I have been having some issues with the car and changed some stuff (Thanks Hennie)
  • My BOV is now on its own VAC source..
AFM has been cleaned new plugs added at 1 mm gap..
    Intake manifold leak fixed..
But now I have a Cam seal oil leak, and my first gear is unusable.
If I jump on the peddle in first my wheels just let go and I get bad wheel hop.

Anyway my updated grocery list is for the next couple of months:
  • Nismo Engine Mounts
    Must Install Oil Cooler
    440cc injectors
    Custom Intake Manifold
    Cam gears.
    Improved Radiator
I am currently speaking with a company on the States to create a custom "Chip"with all my modifications and fuel "Ron" for me to solder into my ECU based off a "mines" tune.

Should be very cost effective should it work .
We will see, Atleast i have a spare motor if it goes wrong

I'm aiming at 180 Wkw at 0.8 Psi / 055 bar
