Overfueling Issues Ca18det

Post by denoSX »

So ive been reading other topics and searching too, which has been quite informative but i need some specific advice.
i know a little a bit bout my car and engine but its not enough to trouble shoot myself.
Engine runs really well, i have a 63mm exhaust with no engine mods & it makes 131kw. i believe if it aint broke dont fix it but ballwashing is my concern!

I have checked and i get about 375 - 400 km off a tank(45l). Ive checked my air fuel ratio and its bad in 10 11 12s full throttle 3rd & 4th cant remember exactly but cruising at 120km/h is also bad low 13's i think. Exhaust and Bumper is always black from smoke/unburnt fuel!

My question is Does it need to be tuned, or is there another problem ie faulty fuel pump or afm or leaking injectors.
i dont have a management system but im fitting one soon probly Diktator.
Would love Nistune but ders nobody to tune it, or help me tune it in CT.

Lemme know wat u guys think.
Thanks
Deon

Its the same with me. My car is white with a weird colour bumper coz of all the unburned fuel. And I am running dictator.

Poizen knows what I'm talking bout, he saw my bumper.

hi Deon

i had a similar issue
i think also check your thermostat &
all bost pipes .Then if no difference the question of are your long term plans to leave your ride standard (reliable ;-)
or go mods start
if standard go Visit Lynx motorsport (Bosch agents )
please wear an adult nappy when visiting their premises
if you can drive it drift it

try checking fuel presure, FPR (fuel presure regulator) might be bust.. not returning fuel to tank, thus fuel pressure too high, overfueling..

AFM might also be bust, try checking the ecu for error codes. try these for a start..

Thanks Guys
i'm gonna service it, then i'll check the thermostat, fpr and boost pipes and clean afm. What do lynx motorsport do? Can they check error codes.

"Not returning to the fuel tank"... I was also thinking FPR cos if i Gun it or give a the High rev then the revs drop all the way down and car goes off

For my dirty bumpers or dirty paint i use Meguiars ultimate compound, it removes light Scratches, swirl marks and any dirt...really works well

checking for error codes on the ca18det is really easy to do yourself, there is a step by step guide and explanation of codes in the FSM, or simply do a google search..

something like this..

this should really be the first thing you do 8)

@ 300sx, I did all that mines still overfuelling.

Its idling at 1400rpm all the time, power is there and im only boosting 0.5bar with std management

Fit a fuel pressure gauge? would a struggling fuel pump be the cause?

That's beyond dangerously lean. Bye, bye, engine.

(Of course that assumes you have an accurate AFR reading)

How are you measuring afr's?

See if someone is willing to loan you a working AFM to test with.

What is your fuel pressure? Are you using the standard fuel pressure regulator, have you tested it?
