mario - injection moulding is the way to go, but the tooling is waay to expensive no???

expensive - and it might look good for a couple of months until the sun makes it go blob

i was thinking to cut the lenses off first and then to thermoform polyethylene/carbonate sheets to go back on like what clearcornersdotcom does as far as i gather, after chooning the lights to personalise them of course

im seeing my contact for the injection moulding this weekend, so hopefully he can come up with a few answers!!

ask him if he can "chrome" plastic (for the backing) - i have read about how they do it long time ago, but cant remember - think it is just some fancy paint or something

Spoke to my uncle. Moulds cost too much too make. Its about R30 000 a pop. the moulds are made from metal.

so they need to machine it from scratch and that type of engineering is the expensive part.

color and things like that is a breeze. so if anybody knows somebody who can make the moulds then we can perhaps make a plan.

ya - injection moulding is worth it if you're going to make hundreds of thousands of the same product.

in our case - totally not worth it!!!
