Fuel + White smoke from the exhaust. (SOLVED)
Hi guys.
My CA18DET is spitting out fuel and white smoke from the exhaust.
Now I think that my injectors might be shot. Explains the problem .
Or the injector plugs are wrong on the car. I had them out but did not mark them and now i think i might have messed it up.
I need to get the car up and running again so i do not know exactly the problem.
I am currently waiting for new injectors so to see if it solves my problem.
Any help and info much appreciated.

Think you engine coolant temp sensor is faulty if you car is running on all 4s then theres nothing wrong with plugs. To me it sounds like you over fueling

I am not sure that the car is running perfect but it seems so .....but as soon i saw the fuel and smoke i switched it off ....now i read that the FPR can cause to much pressure and so over fuel also that one or more injectors is stuck open but ...the problem started when i took the car in for a spray and the spray painter threw in injector cleaner in the car and at the same time i replaced the o rings and rubber seals on the injectors then one injector was leaking out of body at the small plastic holes on either side. So i stopped it with some q bond and refitted it. The car started once only and was very irregular and stalled, tried few more times but nothing. I then checked the timing and it was out by 180 degrees so i reset it correctly how that happened no one knows Then still nothing so i replaced the spark-plugs and new fuel filter and it started after that but then the smoke and fuel...not a lot of smoke but more fuel than smoke... The car was running fine before that... that is the whole story.

Ja dude over fueling could be a few things first check that water coolant sensor taki it out and put it in hot water if the resistance change then it should be fine then id clean your maf if that doesn't work check fpr

i will have a look and see maybe it is just a small prob.
Thanks Mate

Re: Fuel + White smoke from the exhaust.
never heard of white smoke associated with over fueling, isnt over fueling is normally black smoke . like when your airflow meter is vented to atmosphere on standard maf when it dumps there is often a slight second of overfueling due to differences of measured airflow and airflow that has escaped and you will get a puff of black smoke, happens to me and you will smell the fuel, what you're describing sounds like any normal car on cold start, moisture in the exhaust causing liquid to drip out and splatter out of exhaust and white smoke (steam) can often smell like fuel as the condensation from the exhaust clears, even brand new bmw's do it, but i doubt actual fuel will come out of your exhaust even if overfueling.
Re: Fuel + White smoke from the exhaust.
Trust me on this i couldn't believe it myself and checked it myself it is pure fuel coming out of the exhaust...damm i will get the car back tomorrow and have a proper look and attempt to fix it.
I know the difference between condensation and fuel ... my money is still on the incorrect plugs fitted on the injectors and the fuel delivery is at the wrong time or the injectors is shot.

but that would cuz very bad idling wouldnt it? my bet is on engine coolant temp sensore. what plugs did you put in and what gap?rat wrote:injector plugs 2 and 3 are about the same lenth on the loom. i have mixed them before.

Re: Fuel + White smoke from the exhaust.
Got the car back tonight...will check all that tomorrow.
It should not be a big issue but i will have to check it out.

Re: Fuel + White smoke from the exhaust.
ok i have checked it and swapped the no. 2 & 3 injector plugs which were wrong also the acc plug and cold start plug were mixed up and i corrected it.
Now the motor runs as before but still fuel out of exhaust.
I should be getting new injectors soon and the n i will go on the process of elimination.
If with new injectors still the same i will replace the fuel pressure regulator & O2 sensor.
So i hope it will solve the problem.

Re: Fuel + White smoke from the exhaust.
yes the one on the exhaust... faulty maybe can cause over fueling but i highly doubt it .
Re: Fuel + White smoke from the exhaust.
SA spec cars (and hence, ECU's) do not work with O2 sensors.
S13 CA18DET, NIStune and...oh wait no that's gone.....
Re: Fuel + White smoke from the exhaust.
If you take your plugs out are they also wet with fuel or extremely black?
