Ca18det's with t3/t4?

Post by smash!! »

hey guys i just wanted to find out how many ca's are out there running t3/t4 turbos on stock internals what power are they making with bolt on mods and a ecu (dicktator ect..)

reason for this is im busy fixing up my ca it needs new rings compression is low so was wondering idf its worth me putting on my garret t3/t4 hybrid stage 3 ? i dont have alot of money to spend so im avoiding forge parts. im keeping the ca (no motor swaps please ..) my t25 is buggared the exhaust housing is cracked badly and there is shaft play.

lol.. really.. what turbo..

what im trying to say is : how long is a piece of string?

a t3/t4 is a hybrid consisting of a t3 compressor mated to a t4 turbine .. considering the wide range of t4 turbines, and even more wide range of t3 compressor wheels, you can have a t3/t4 turbo suited for a 5 liter v8.. and certainly also a t3/t4 suited to a ca18det..

hence the question.. without knowing what size t3/t4 you want to fit to your ca18 the question is pointless

hahaha look at the ar housings to see the size of the turbo you want.. basic ca set up looking 160 to 180 depending on the motors life and how long you want the car to be running

If you are looking for a small-ish T3/4 turbo then a ar50 housing with a 52mm compressor and a stage 1 exhaust wheel with either ar.48 or .63 housing should work fine if you want the car to boost early.....

A 0.48 housing at least, anything bigger and the lag will be heavy.

Careful for the small housings, if the rear housing is too small it also leads to massive heat at the exh side.

I have a 48 housing with a stage 3 exhaust wheel and have full boost around 4200-4500rpm. Doubt if yours will change after rebuild.
