There is no greater love than that between a father and his daughter... I see it with my father and I see it in myself.

Looking forward to more progress pics and updates on the build! If I am not mistaken, it's the first of it's kind in SA that I know of.

Right, So as you all know. My last trip to the dyno had issues... Oil pressure and scavenge issues etc.
This time around....sadly there was no difference...

First off, The tuners at JMS said i should change the exhaust.
I had to change the twin 76mm system and run it through a balancer tube.
Now i could have just bought one, But waiting 2 weeks.....doesnt work for me,
So i gave it a crack at making my own.

76mm pipes, tub coping calculator and protractor to get angle right.

Then we discovered the car started a missfire.....
After hours of testing and checking wires etc,

We found there was no misfire, The timing was changing.... everytime we reved the car up.
What was happening was that the crank pulley damper was spinning on the crank.
The LS motors dont have a key way, its a taper fit.
And becouse im running a dry sump pump off a pulley bolted to the front of the damper.
When the car revs up, the oil pump comes under pressure and the load increases, which in turn loosens the crank damper bolt.

So over the weekend, i drilled the crank and pulley, I made a drill guide tool which bolted to the crank to keep the drill straight.
And the finally knocked in 2 6mm ejector pins.

So after that.
Finally i could get the car tuned!
So the guys at JMS Motor Sport tuned it,
Keeping it safe for now, Rev limiter at 5500 and its still running little rich,

But as it is its enough to let me shake the car down properly, And dial in the suspension.
Make sure everything is sorted, And then we will get back to dyno for peak performance

So boys.

TURN up your sound.

Next stop. The track

Yeah it is crazy Barry.
The amount of fabricaton and modification is insane,
I was asked about how much this project has cost. .....

I think the more relevant question is how many man hours have gone into this?
Its insane, It seems simple. Just put dowel pins in.
The reality is. Finding the crank pulley problem and getting it sorted took 43 hours.... if i add it up..... and thats just one problem.... i have had many :)
Sadly there may be more when i get on track

Love those lights! i agree with you booster people do not know the time and effort that goes into a project to get it right all those small details that u spent hours perfecting no one notices them it annoys me when people say its a easy job when they have never done it. but its all this effort that makes us appreciate the car.

Dont worry boet you're definitely not alone in man hours and cash dumped into these cars i could've bought a 370Z cash by now .. we've all had and will keep having these kinds of issues. And its usually these sneaky knock on effect problems that are actually cheap / easy to solve.. but like you say ... big problem is to find the needles in the haystack.

Keep up the good work

Forsure guys,

I guess that’s we each of us develop a certain unique bond with the car we are building/developing/customizing
As gay as it sounds. Its true

The small details that take up so much time and that few people will ever even see.
