Larry's 200sx s14
I have been reading all about awesome builds and how great this page can help a new sx owner. So i have decided to start my build. I have a 200sx s14, it’s been standing for more than a year now, a few months ago I finally found the perfect engine for the car and also the engine that I wanted. The search was long and painful including all the documentation. Finally got everything sorted and also the paper work for this engine was a bit of a problem. Lucky that’s done now. I must say part online looks really cool and all that but it’s a struggle to get them here and get them to your destination…customs…need I say more.
More about the car: it was a friend of my father for almost 10years. the moment I started earning money I was full on it to buy this car. Reason this was his second s14 and he always looked after the car and kept his hand on it, the car itself is very clean all part is still stock and nothing has been swapped out. Wanted to buy it ever since 2009, sadly finance was not on my side. That didn’t stop me from reminding him about the fact that I want his car and sadly the day I went to make another offer I was informed that the motor was removed and the car is standing…I was a bit sad to get this info but like anyone who wanted something I used this to my advantage and struck a beautiful deal and took as is with no questions asked. The body and inside of the car was still in extremely close to mint condition besides the roof it faded a little bit and lost it clear coat, no biggy nothing a good spray painter can’t fix. Took me about a week to collect the car and bring it to its new home.
Being a student i know this build will take time...lots of time but im still glad i finally have the car i wanted for extremely long. So all i have is time.

Re: Larry's 200sx s14
After endless phone calls and emails. I found an engine in japan. Seeing none of our local importers had this engine in stock or was will to import one. I decide to do things myself and import this engine. Man!!! What a mission this was. I doubt I will do this again. It was a bit risky and a pain in the @$$ but It arrived in SA after two months. Then it decided to visit customs until paper work was found, why I have no idea. I was informed this is a direct delivery and all that. The engine arrived and it was in okay shape.

Re: Larry's 200sx s14
Decided to start removing the dirty parts and clean it. I didnt like the condition and was full of junk some wood shaving sh!t(not sure if that word is allowed on here guys,if not sorry). Was delivered to APS to get the inspection from FCC and to see the parts is still good. I took selected part home for some fun

Re: Larry's 200sx s14
The motor arrived with the following:
Air con
starter
alternator
Power Steering Pump
t28 tubro
Full intake
Manual throttle body
I was very happy to hear that all these part doesn't usually come with when you buy a motor.
Who was i kidding lol the turbo was busted, Air con was broken, alternator was messed up and to top it of it has some weird power steering pump, talk about weight added to the shipping cost from Japan to South Africa to Cape Town..
Lucky this saved me big time a boot filled with spares

At home i got a bit creative with the cover
Thought this would be a easy job. I struggled get the black off this like hell... skuurpapier nee wat! niks gehelp nie
After hours of struggling i finally got the end result. I must say i was very happy with it and it tested the spray skill pretty good.

Very nice are you going to do a manual conversion?
