Power is nothing without control,
Control is not fun without power.
Traction is over rated.

x2 ... i agree.. we need a practicing Drifter to give proper advice...

i have a few Q's.. here's number 1 .. :)

After speaking with another NAT Pro drifter from the forum.. he was telling me his suspension setup for high speed comp drifting .. and how it differed from low / mid speed setups. I was amazed at the reverse of suspension ideology.. atleast from what i know.

So i guess my Q to you is.. what are your basic setups for low, mid and high speed drifting. Or do you use one kind a setting for all?

Well it depends on the driver the car and style,

i use a basic setup for any drift,i guess if your drifting at 180km
or drifting at 40kmh then the changes can be significant but usually you drifting between 65kmh-130kmh so i find that minor changes to the damping and spring rate according to the track surface will do.

Then again thats the way i drive, i tend to adjust my driving to the way the car react at high or low speedoing big changes to suspension requires a lot of testing and experiance.

So you would you adjust your dampers and spring rate just by trial and error and feel for the track? Also how'd you get your initial setup for camber, caster & toe etc.?

castor i left standerd.as for camber i run as much camber i can get for best front end grip.anything from 3-5 dagrees negative is good.
toe i like to run about 0.5-1 negetive(facing out)on my car that works best and also it gives slightly more steering angle.

damping and spring rate is trial and error at the moment, basicly we trying to stop the car from bouncing in the back, also we trying to make the car more loose at the back because the tires we use are to gripy, you want the car to carry on sliding once you of the power.

cool... so what does your suspension consist of? ie .. coilovers.. complete arm kit .. uprated sway bars... urethane bushes... etc ..?

Also .. do you do your own alignment or do you take it to .. say 'tiger wheel & tyre' and tell them the settings you want .. :)
