Just a quick update, The car has been re-assembled since last year already and a different approach is being taken.

I will go for a sleeper look as much as is physically possible but retain the mag wheels and import lights. Since people are underestimating the ca18det motors so much why not allow to car to add to this under estimation for a bigger surprise but also a neat looking car with a great contrast from the white body. I have given in my cam covers and front engine cover as well as 2 of my main boost pipes to be powder coated black.

The car was tuned with a run in map on a dictator and we made some good figures on low boost. (I am unsure of the boost but it wasn't more than 0.8 8) ) According to the tuner whom also tunes Ice motor sports top end cars the ca18 is running very strong, The tuner was Kobus.

Currently we are installing a Maxxecu V1 management. It is a VE tuning management so it should ensure for a much smoother and usable power curve and drive even at low rpms. I will be using 4x egt sensors (one per cylinder). Fuel flex sensor and a full barrage of its capabilities including safeties. We are going to use the Nissan Cas unit, run a 60-2 sensor on the crank and some extra pressure sensors on the oil and fuel for protection. A nifty extra feature would be that we will use the box to control my boost electronically making it unnecessary for me to have an external boost controller. I will also be deleting all my in car gauges since the management comes with a Bluetooth connection enabling me to use a tablet to display any and all sensor readings. If you want to check out the system then go check out the site: http://maxxecu.com/products/v1

It is hard to say what to really expect on high boost but based on existing/prior dyno sheets my estimation would be 500whp at +- 1.5 bar boost and 50/50 fuel. After which i will take it to the track to see how it responds and performs. Targets are anything over 200kmh+ on 402m, 245kmh+ on the 800m and 255kmh on the 1km.

Should we not be able to achieve the goals i will be looking at changing to a twin scroll setup and increased turbine wheel and housing but also upping the boost and fitting a second set of injectors for more fueling.

Hi Derek,

The tuner did tell me, but i cant remember exactly. When i drove it home i didn't check because its only a run in map i decided not to push it too much. Since then the car was parked off in my garage for a while and then dropped of at BB nissan Gezina for the management install.

With the new cams the power curve is shifted to the top but since its just a run in map, low boost, running pump gas and only at 7500rpm im not really bothered by it since the car made 450nm 4 years ago with the old setup,Pretty sure with added boost that this picture will change dramatically. We also need to play with the cam timing when tuning for power. [smilie=200sx_2guns.gif]

Just a quick small update:

Changing Valve springs to Double springs
Upgraded Sr20 radiator with an Ali R33 GTR 3 core from Mr turbo
Went to look at the progress and they have cleaned up the engine bay nicely

My car is almost ready to start with the run in map. I will do 700kms and then service the oil and then take it back for high boost!

Pretty sure with all my cosmetic mods to the engine with the black boost pipes the car will look quite nice with all the covers fitted. Also considering making the intake black and spraying some odds and ends black. Majority will be black and silver.

Still aiming for around 400wkw (530whp) but i guess we will have to see what she does on the dyno.

Thanks Darryl!

Hahaha, maybe a bit of both. To be honest i am not sure of the costs so far but i have definitely spent quit a bit of money on the car, mainly due to schooling fee's.

If i would do such a conversion again i would start in the following order:
1. Proper VE Engine management with all the safeties and sensors even if the motor is still stock. (Will save you a fortune in the long run, even on tuning)
2. Strip out the motor, check all clearances, preventative maintenance by replacing pumps, rings, gaskets, belts. Good time to install forged pistons and rods. Install 3 core radiator, replace all engine rubber pipes. Fit external oil cooler. Do head drain mod and enlarge oil sump with extra breathers and then re-assemble.
3. Only at this stage would i start to install the mods like more fuel pumps, fuel pressure regulator, bigger injectors, turbo manifold, turbo and clutch.
4. Dont forget to upgrade your worn shocks, replace old parts and upgrade your brakes...Going fast is easy...stopping is much more difficult.

If i did it in this order i would of saved a fortune on parts, tuning and time wasted. To be honest i still think for the money spent and the performance i gained it is still very cheap considering i still have the original CA motor. Estimated costs to do such a conversion are over 120k but if you look at the performance stats and what other people are currently paying for "conversions" or performance cars monthly installments i would say that its still well worth it.

Quick update;

We are getting there!

Car idling with maxxecu on run in map (Not sure if it was further tuned but i am impressed) Not bad considering the big cams and 1000cc injectors.
